A collection of my IT problems and how I fixed them.
I've ended up buying more than one Deluxhost server because their low-end plans are cheap and the better plans offer good price-to-performance. For normal self-hosting jobs, they've been better than I expected.
So as everyone in the UK knows, the Online Safety Act has blocked websites like Imgur, so I decided to explore options to work around it. I've set up a Wireguard VPN server on one of my cheap VPSs and configured my Unifi UDM to route Imgur traffic through it.
I needed to stop Microsoft Teams running on servers, but it installs to AppData without needing admin rights, so I blocked it via GPO using Software Restriction Policy path rules.
Microsoft Teams has caused me a few issues over the years, so I've collated some of the fixes I've gathered, including a BAT file to fully uninstall it when it bugs out.
Whilst working at Focus we found service desk disabling RDS logins and forgetting to re-enable them, so I wrote a Powershell script to monitor RDS Pools and notify our service desk via email.
